To follow up on my previous blog post..
Here in mission for example, it is really hard to be quiet and I can clearly see the shift in my mind. It is so much more active and agitated than when I am home in my “comfort bubble”.
The fact of sitting 15mn every day is like a cleansing for me. It allows me to process things, to understand where I am at, what I need and to get in touch with myself to see if I am ok or not.
I do not try not to think or avoid thoughts, I actually let them be fully and follow them. I try, and it’s not easy, to let my thoughts guide me and not to force anything. One quality I developed through this technique is tolerance to what is happening. Gentleness, kindness, compassion and openness to myself and my inner world. And ultimately, to the outside world. I am able to cope with changes and stress factors way better than I did before. I am not saying I don’t have my struggles, uh !! ;) but I clearly am more kind and soft towards myself and what is happening.
This is a technique that Josh called yin meditation. In opposition to yan meditation, where you specifically try to focus on something and stay with it – always coming back to it. It can be your breath, or your hands on you chins, or any other focus (metta for instance) you decide to set.
You can actually switch between these techniques. Use the focus point (or anchor, as Josh called it) when going into the flow of thoughts becomes too heavy, intense or difficult. And balance between letting go and focus/control. YOU decide where and when you go :)
Was this useful? Do you have questions?
I would be glad to spread the world with little tips to feel better and happier :)
